A relação materno : filial e suas repercussões no desenvolvimento infanto juvenil em contesto de vulnerabilidade

Abstract

This research addresses the mother-child bond in contexts of social vulnerability. Thus, the objective is to analyze the mother-child relationship and its implications for child and adolescent mental health in vulnerable contexts. The study is justified as it envisages the strengthening of mental health in this segment of the population. The research had an observational and qualitative methodological design, of a descriptive and exploratory nature, in which a Sociodemographic Questionnaire, Anamnesis Interview, and joint Participant Observation with mothers and their children in a Scrap Workshop were used. Five mothers and their children participated in the research, participants of the Coexistence Center for Homeless Adults, in São Paulo-SP. From the results analyzed, it was observed that the mothers were aged between 22 and 38 years old, single, with children, homeless and in housing occupations, with incomplete primary education, in addition to low socioeconomic status. The predominance of non-planning of pregnancy was identified, with this point influencing the development of children. Mothers reported that they want to offer their children a better living condition and attending school appears to be the predominant element for having a promising future. With regard to children, the need for more attention and recognition from mothers was analyzed, as they are perceived as a source of security. The Workshop Participant Observation made it possible to identify signs of withdrawal and feelings of insecurity among children in their relationships with their mothers. Participation in the Scrap Workshop enabled mothers to recognize their position in the face of their children's emotional demands. It is concluded, therefore, that the mother-child relationship was impacted by the context of vulnerability in which they live, making it important to propose actions that promote the strengthening of the mother-child bond. Based on this research, a booklet was proposed that seeks to give a voice to the children of mothers in vulnerable situations, with the aim of promoting relationships with their children.
